SOLVING ECONOMIC DISPATCH PROBLEM USING PARTICLE SWARM OPTIMIZATION BY AN
EVOLUTIONARY TECHNIQUE FOR INITIALIZING PARTICLES |
Author: |

Abstract: |
One of the important optimization problems regarding power system issues is to
determine and provide an economic condition for generation units based on the
generation and transmission constraints, which is called Economic Dispatch (ED).
The nonlinearity of the present problems makes conventional mathematic methods
unable to propose a fast and robust solution, especially when the power system
contains high number of generation units. In the present paper, an evolutionary
modified Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) is used to find fast and efficient
solutions for different power systems with different generation unit numbers.
The proposed algorithm is capable of solving the constraint ED problem,
determining the exact output power of all the generation units. In such a way,
proposed algorithm minimizes the total cost function of the generation units. To
model the fuel costs of generation units, a piecewise quadratic function is used
and B coefficient method is used to represent the transmission losses. The
acceleration coefficients are adjusted intelligently and a novel algorithm is
proposed for allocating the initial power values to the generation units. The
feasibility of the proposed PSO based algorithm is demonstrated for four power
system test cases consisting of 3, 6, 15, and 40 generation units. The obtained
results are compared to existing results based on previous PSO implementing and
Genetic Algorithm (GA). The results reveal that the proposed algorithm is
capable of reaching a higher quality solution including mathematical simplicity,
fast convergence, and robustness to cope with the non-linearities of economic
load dispatch problem. |

Abstract: |
This paper presents a study on optimal location and sizing of multiple FACTS
devices based on Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) for minimization of
transmission losses, and voltage profile improvement, which takes into account
the cost of installation. In this study, Static Var Compensator (SVC) and
Thyristor Controlled Series Compensator (TCSC) are chosen as the compensating
device for the purposes of maintaining security in power system. Simulations for
various loading conditions at several load buses have been conducted in order to
evaluate its robustness and feasibility for broad implementation. In addition,
installation of several FACTS devices into the system has been also conducted in
the attempt to evaluate their impact to the system in terms of loss reduction
and voltage profile improvement. Validation through the application on the IEEE
30-bus system indicated that PSO is feasible to achieve the task. Results from
the study are compared with those obtained from Evolutionary Programming (EP)
method in the attempt to highlight its merit. |

Abstract: |
Even though mobile technologies and wireless communication are growing at a very
rapid phase all over the world, still the development of mobile commerce is
hindered by a lot of aspects. Researchers all over the world are actively
studying on this domain to understand the factors that affect the adoption of
M-commerce. A lot of studies have recognized that ‘trust’ is an crucial factor
that impacts the adoption of M-commerce in a lot of domains, including the Small
and Medium-sized Tourism Enterprises (SMTEs). Nevertheless it is not an easy
task to make the customers to trust M-commerce for various reasons. Hence, based
on previous studies, this paper has identified the factors that influence the
customer’s trust of M-commerce adoption in SMTEs. Based on the above statement,
this study has proposed hypothetical model for the purpose of studying trust and
its precursors such as Familiarity with M-commerce and calculation-based trust,
towards the adoption of M-commerce in SMTEs. |

Author: |

Abstract: |
There are two types of situations in which multi-document summarization would be
useful: (1) the user is faced with a collection of dis-similar documents and
wishes to assess the information landscape contained in the collection, or (2)
there is a collection of topically related documents, extracted from a larger
more diverse collection as the result of a query, or a topically-cohesive
cluster. In this paper we present the development of an automatic multi-
document summarizer based on clustering and sentence extraction. Based on
reference document provided by the user, similar type of documents is extracted
from a group of documents. We create an n x n similarity matrix among the entire
sentence in the similar type of documents which represent sentence level
similarity in all sentences in all extracted documents. Then we make clusters of
similar sentences using Markov clustering principle. Then in each cluster each
sentence is assigned three weights 1.chronological weight (Document level)
2.Position weight (position of sentence in document) 3. Sentence weight (Stastical
weight based on term weight). Then we extract best sentences from each cluster.
We have tested the system with document of different domain documents and the
result is satisfactory. |

Abstract: |
In designing a walking robot, a power supply issue must be considered which is
the required power to generate movement of the joint using a servomotor and the
required of a suitable algorithm to enable the robot to move. In addition, the
use of suitable devices to allow users to move the robot also should be
considered. The objectives of this study is to develop the walking robot using
minimum number of servomotor. The minimum number of servomotor allows the
walking robot to minimize the power consumption while construct a program that
can produce coordination of multi-degree of freedom for the movement of the
robot. The project also tried to use PS2 joystick to allow users to control the
robot forward or backwards and turn the robot to the left or right. The
parameters studied include determination of the minimum voltage amount required
to sustain the burden of the output which are servomotors used. Besides that,
servomotor rotation angle at each joint in order to move the robot's feet and
the use “USART” protocol to allow the microcontroller to communicate with a PS2
joystick driver circuit. It is found that four servomotors are sufficient to
produce the basic walking robot and two voltage regulators are needed to control
the load where one voltage regulator capable of supplying enough current to
drive two servomotors for each leg. |

Abstract: |
At the moment, identification of blood disorders is through visual inspection of
microscopic images of blood cells. From the identification of blood disorders,
it can lead to classification of certain diseases related to blood. This paper
describes a preliminary study of developing a detection of leukemia types using
microscopic blood sample images. Analyzing through images is very important as
from images, diseases can be detected and diagnosed at earlier stage. From
there, further actions like controlling, monitoring and prevention of diseases
can be done. Images are used as they are cheap and do not require expensive
testing and lab equipments. The system will focus on white blood cells disease,
leukemia. The system will use features in microscopic images and examine changes
on texture, geometry, color and statistical analysis. Changes in these features
will be used as a classifier input. A literature review has been done and
Reinforcement Learning is proposed to classify types of leukemia. A little
discussion about issues involved by researchers also has been prepared. |

Abstract: |
A wireless sensor network (WSN) is a set of nodes communicating through wireless
links to observe a given phenomenon. Wireless sensor network is deployed over a
geographical area to collect information in hostile environments. The capacity
of sensors is limited by the lifetime of their batteries, so the energy is a
critical resource in this type of network. Moreover their mobility has several
problems as addressing, routing and localization .The challenge is to find
mechanisms that extend the life of the system and its robustness taking into
account the constraints of mobility and energy consumption. In this paper, we
propose a new protocol designated for mobile nodes in wireless sensor network
that is based on passive clustering. This mechanism does not use any packet
control protocol and does not require reconstruction of the cluster topology
after each leaving of CH or its energy level is below a given threshold. The
proposed protocol aims at reducing the overhead and preserving the energy. In
addition it allows balanced energy consumption by the network nodes and
maintains the cluster architecture longer than passive clustering protocol. |

Abstract: |
The stability control of two separate electric vehicle (EV) motors by using only
single five-leg inverter (FLI) is the motivation of this study. This paper
proposes an electric differential (ED) in a FLI to serve dual separate induction
motor (IM) drive-based wheels of an EV traction drive system. FLI is developed
to replace the two normal three-phase voltage source inverters that need to
independently control the two separate IMs at each of the EV wheels. Stability
problem will be tackled by electric differential (ED) algorithm. The proposed
traction drive employs space vector pulse width modulation direct torque control
(SVPWM DTC) modulator with duty cycle merging algorithm as the switching
sequence of the FLI. This technique allowed any portion of DC bus voltage to be
allocated to any motor. Simulations were performed. The resulting control
performance; speed, torque, and current verified the stability and robustness of
the system. This study implies that there is possibility of using only one
inverter (FLI) in order to drive two separate IM drive-based wheels without
jeopardizes the system stability and robustness. |

MULTI-BEAM ANTENNA-BASED TOPOLOGY CONTROL ALGORITHM IN AD HOC NETWORKS |
Author: |
NING YE, QIAN SUN, HAILONG WANG, GENG YU |
Abstract: |
Multi-beam antenna is drawing attention due to its power-saving and
interference-reducing. A topology control algorithm K-DRNG based on multi-beam
antenna in heterogeneous wireless Ad Hoc network is proposed. The algorithm is
mainly composed of three phases. In the stage of information collection, each
node collects information of neighborhood by adjusting the transmitting power
and controlling sector conversion. In the stage of topology construction, each
node constructs directed relative neighborhood graph according to link weighs.
In the stage of topology optimization, each node constructs subgragh of initial
topology and adds or deletes directional links with neighborhood to guarantee
bi-directional connectivity of topology. The simulation results show the
proposed algorithm can reduce the average energy consumption of nodes, increase
the spatial reuse of radio resource, thus improve integral network performance. |

COMPUTATIONAL VISUAL METHOD OF WHEAT TEMPERATURE IN WHEAT BARN |
Author: |
HAN CHEN, XING-PEI LIANG, HUA HUO |
Abstract: |
In the paper, the three-dimensional numerical model and the data interface
between database and calculating program are established for the prediction of
wheat temperature variation during the practical grain storage. Due to the
temperature-dependence of thermal properties of wheat, the nonlinear transient
finite element simulation of the wheat temperature field is carried out. The
numerical results are compared with the measured results to verify the proposed
numerical model, and it’s found that there is a good agreement between them. So,
it can be said that the temperature variation for the practical wheat storage
can be observed and analyzed in the visual type, instead of time and
money-consuming experiment, if the numerical method developed in this paper can
be put into practice. Furthermore, the present method of monitoring grain
temperature only based on the data analysis can be further improved to the
visual level. |

Abstract: |
As the existed eye tracking devices are so complex that the restrictions on the
position are too many and people have to wear special equipment, this paper
introduces a novel method against eye tracking: using the five near-infrared
light as the source of corneal reflex. With the help of our method, people won’t
need any equipment against eye tracking. Our method is able to adapt to the
natural head movement and calculate the position of sight more accurately. In
order to improve the mapping accuracy, a new method for pupil edge fitting is
proposed to fit circularly and remove false points. In our paper the grayscale
of images is used to initialize eye position quickly and accurately. Besides, we
introduce the theory of cross-ratio invariance to make coordinate mapping and
calculate the attention coordinate accurately. |

Abstract: |
A method of Robot path planning based neural network has been raised in order to
guarantee that the robot can simultaneously avoid movable obstacle intelligently
when it is reaching the destination. In the first instance, every robot will be
divided into spheres of influence, and the influence map will be worked out at
the same time. Then neural network is used to select the path. In view of the
problems of neural network(such as local-optimization and poor convergence,
etc.),genetic algorithm is added to optimize neural network to help finding the
best path . This technology can be widely used in many fields such as the
navigation and computer games. Especially, it can be used in games of robot path

Classification is achieved by Markov random field filtering on the original

Abstract: |
Aiming at the requirements of high-speed data transmission and low energy
consumption in energy constrained Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs), a mobile
robot-based virtual V-BLAST cooperative MIMO transmission scheme and an
efficient approximate maximum likelihood (ML) detection algorithm are proposed
in this paper. Mobility of robot can reduce the communication distance between
the sensor nodes, MIMO-based WSNs can use its diversity gain to overcome fading
effects and can also use its multiplexing gain to increase the data transmission
rate. As for the detection algorithm in mobile robot-based virtual V-BLAST
transmission scheme, combined with traditional decoding OSIC algorithm, the
vectors needed to be detected in approximate ML algorithm are reduced. Mobile
robot can receive with its own multi-antenna or using collaborative nodes
around, and the energy efficiency analysis of the two cases are all discussed.
Simulation results show that the proposed scheme effectively reduces network
energy consumption, and the efficient approximate ML detection algorithm further
improves energy-efficiency. |

Abstract: |
Through analyzing the characteristics of the culture information dissemination
of the network era, the complex network theory is used to study it deeply. It
shows that the process of network information dissemination has typical network
topology structure. The kind of network structure has both small world and
scale-free features, and the self-organization characteristic. On the basis of
the features and main influence factors of the network information
dissemination, a two-dimensional cellular automata (CA) model is presented to
simulate the evolutionary process and dynamics characteristics of the network
information dissemination in different conditions. The result shows that the
value of the information is the key point that affects the dissemination speed
and efficiency. If the value of a key node degree is relatively higher, the role
it plays will be more important. The existence of key node is an important
reason that the information could spread quickly in network era. The information
dissemination in the network has latent and hysteresis quality. |

Abstract: |
The computer industry plays an important role in promoting the development of
national economy and national comprehensive power of China. As an important
evaluation indicator, the R&D efficiency of computer industry becomes one of the
most important research fields currently. According to the shortages of
traditional C2R model of DEA, this paper constructs an improved DEA model for
measuring the R&D efficiency of computer industry and does an empirical research
on R&D efficiency of computer industry in different regions. This research shows
that: the improved DEA model overcomes the shortages of traditional C2R model
and it is able to reflect the difference of R&D efficiency between different
regions more effectively; Compared with efficiency frontier, the R&D efficiency
of Chinese computer industry has potentials to improve; The R&D efficiency of
Chinese computer industry is influenced by various factors, such as government

Abstract: |
Clonal selection was a natural choice mode of immune system, in which the
antibody with high affinity for antigen was promoted and the antibody with low
affinity was restrained under the action of clonal selection mechanism. And
Clonal Selection Algorithm (CSA) as one kind of searching methods adopted group
search strategy, exchanged information between antibodies and achieved global
optimal solution search by simulating the high variation and cloning
characteristics of B lymphocyte. A simulation model of the best ignition
advanced angle of hydrogen-fueled engine based on CSA was constructed. The
advantages of CSA and the features of BP neural network were all adopted in this
model. The simulation results show that this new model predicts the best
ignition advanced angle of hydrogen-fueled engine quickly and accurately. What’s
the important is that it overcomes BP neural network’s shortcomings of slow
convergence speed and easily running into the local minimum value. |

AN IMAGE DENOISING SCHEME FOR BASKETBALL VIDEO IMAGE |
Author: |
HONGQIANG LI |
Abstract: |
In recent years, the wavelet-based image denoising techniques mainly focus on
the case that uses a single wavelet base. In fact, different wavelet bases can
often effectively represents different areas or features of an image. In this
paper a new image denoising method using multiple wavelet bases is proposed.
First, the noisy image is denoised by various wavelet bases and then a set of
the denoised images are obtained. Next, the local character is computed in time
domain of every denoised image. The variance, the mean and the gradient are
selected to explain the local character of the denoised images. When the
character is bigger, the recovery effect of the image is better, the pixel is
picked up as a clear pixel to the final denoised image. Third, these multiple
denoised images are fused into a final denoised image based on the local
character. Experiments show that the simple fusion improves the visual quality
of the recovery image |

Abstract: |
The emergence of chaos in complex dynamical networks is a commonly concerned
issue. In this paper, we suppose that the networks consist of nodes which are in
the non-chaotic and unattached state at first, then making them contact each
other by choosing a suitable coupling strength. We found that the nodes and the
degrees of each node in the network are greater, the value of coupling strength
is smaller when the system transit from non-chaotic to chaotic. Our simulation

Abstract: |
In order to improve the measurement accuracy of the linear CCD in the
intersection of vertical target measurement system, the calibration model of
linear CCD’s internal parameters is established and the various factors that
affect the accuracy in the calibration process are analyzed. Making use of the
linear CCD imaging optical principle, the optical center and the effective focal
length are calibrated by using upright and inverted mirror state theory and
N-style array streak model respectively. It can be proved through theoretical
analysis and argument that the method can effectively reduce the impact of the
factors as real object height to calibration accuracy and obtain the high
precision calibration results which are satisfied the application indicators of

Abstract: |
With the expansion of stock market, investors and capital are increasing step by
step, which makes the stock market an increasing impact on the macro-economy. In
order to reveal the effect of macro factors on the specified industry’s stock
price, a new nonlinear regression model is established with Eviews6.0 software
in the paper. We take macro variables as samples which are based on interest
rate adjusting (China has adjusted interest for 24 times from 1997 to June 8th,
2012), conducting an in-depth study of the industrial index on the Stock
Exchange. The empirical result indicates that the industrial index has a
negative correlation with interest rate, PPI, and a positive relation with CPI,

States in one kind of univariate and three kinds of bivariate cases, using
Vector Autoregressive and Bayesian Vector Autoregressive Models, based on the
rolling-sample forecasts and the mean absolute percentage error standard.
Empirical tests show that, both China and the United States’ inflation level
series are stationary; China and the United States’ inflation level are both
able to provide additional information besides itself to the other in the
inflation level forecasting, but the effects of the United States’ inflation
level to China’s inflation level is greater than that of China’s inflation level
to the United States’ inflation level; In addition, the influence of the United
States’ inflation level to China's inflation level maybe is mainly through the
expectation gotten by its past values. Finally, some suggestions are given. |

Abstract: |
The architecture is a key aspect of the design of any system including
simulation systems. An architecture description should provide a formal
specification of the architecture in terms of components and connectors and how
they are composed together. Further, a simulation architecture description for
safety critical system must provide a specification of how the architecture can
satisfy safety and execution characteristics. This paper introduces the
simulation architecture description language for hardware-in-loop simulation of
safety critical systems (SCS-SADL) to support the real-time simulation of safety
critical systems. SCS-SADL is a graphical language with constructs and semantics
defined to provide the user with the capability to define the simulation at
various levels. A supporting toolset is proposed and provided the interface to
SCS-SADL for the design simulation description. With a case study, SCS-SADL is
illustrated its ability to represent the simulation of safety critical systems. |

Abstract: |
Because of inaccuracy of modeling and parameters measurement, the controlled
systems are subjected by the inaccuracy inevitably and the control of uncertain
systems is studied by many researchers. Uncertain nonlinear systems partial
state variables control technique is developed, and applied to single pendulum
systems. In order to make a certain state variable asymptotically stable and
adaptive parameters identify the uncertain parameters, using partial state
stability theory and adaptive control method, two controllers and adaptive
regulators are designed separately for two state variables and uncertain
parameters. Our controllers can guarantee the uniformly ultimate boundedness of
the solution of the closed-loop system, and make the tracking error arbitrarily
small for uncertain parameters. Numerical simulation results illustrate the
effectiveness of the proposed controllers and adaptive regulators. |

TRACKING CONTROL FOR WHEELED MOBILE ROBOTS USING NEURAL NETWORK MODEL ALGORITHM
CONTROL |
Author: |
YUANLIANG ZHANG |
Abstract: |
This paper proposed a neural network model algorithm control (NNMAC) method for
the path tracking control of differentially steered wheeled mobile robots (WMRs)
subject to nonholonomic constraints. The model algorithm control (MAC) is a
one-step-ahead predictive controller, in which the control law is obtained by
minimizing the output error. The MAC method needs the well known model of the
controlled system to design the controller. But sometimes it is difficult to get
the accurate model of the controlled system or the model of the controlled
system is not good because of the inside and outside disturbances and unknown
parameters. Neural network has the ability to estimate the nonlinear system’s
model and its corresponding inverse model. In this paper the NNMAC method which
combines two neural networks and MAC method is proposed to do the path tracking
control of a wheeled mobile robot. Some simulations are conducted to show the
performance and feasibility of the proposed control strategy. In these
simulations the WMR is controlled to track two difference reference paths such
as the circular shape path and the “8” shape path. |

Abstract: |
Big shopping malls usually provide a directory to their available shops, but
these directories are most of the time static and do not provide any
interactivity features to the visitors. In this work, we present a mobile
shopping mall navigator. The main reason behind our conceptual idea of our
proposed project is because we feel that when visitors often change their plan
to go to other shops instead of the ones in their minds, it can be full of
effort especially considering the crowded levels and location of the navigation
material. The application developed is practical and feasible; it is developed
using Microsoft Visual Studio 2008, Microsoft SQL Server, and Microsoft Visual
Studio 2008 mobile Application (http://www.microsoft.com). Pocket PC and Smart
Phones are utilized for the front end and information retrieval purposes. This
application runs with Bluetooth in shopping malls wherever the connection is
available. This helps and assists our living tremendously by increasing the
mobility to locate a particular shop or set of items while shopping or to

BREAKPOINT MATCH TRACING- A NEW METHOD FOR THE THREE DIMENSIONAL RECONSTRUCTION

Author: |
PENGHAO WANG, LIANGJIE TANG |
Abstract: |
The method of breakpoint-match-tracing is a new numerical simulation one to
reconstruct the fault deformation process in three-dimensional space. This
method, however, based on the spatial data relationship of three dimensional
geological bodies, will reconstruct their original relationship result from
using match path to trace the breakpoint and computation. Through picking up the
breakpoint in any fault surface and considering as the research object, and
defining the sets of breakpoint as the reconstruction path for the hanging-wall
and footwall, this method will provide the boundary condition for the tectonic
deformation. The regional fault blocks would be concurrently reconstructed
combining with the Mass-Spring Equation and use it to be as parallel
computation. In this paper, the three dimensional tectonic reconstruction and
simulation for the branched faults of Archean top, distributed in Bohai Bay
Basin, were achieved using this method, and the geometric shape for the
different stages and the corresponding analysis related to the whole deformation
procedure were all also discussed. Taking the tectonic deformation stage as the
model output node, aimed at vividly reconstructing the geometric configuration
of fault and fault block, and thus the whole tectonic deformation can be fully
analyzed during the whole tectonic deformation procedure. |

Abstract: |
A dynamic analysis method is firstly presented to make up the present methods
for calculating the strength of the cylindrical gear pair. The transient stress
distribution and variation in the process of gear meshing can be obtained by
dynamic simulation, the maximum bending stress, the maximum tooth contact stress
and the corresponding worst meshing locations of the gear pair can be also
accurately determined. Then the two key influence factors for gear strength
calculation, load factor and contact stiffness coefficient, are deeply studied,
and strength curves of gear pair with different load factor and contact
stiffness coefficients are derived. Finally, comparative analysis between the
proposed FEM method and traditional ISO method are performed. Analysis results

Abstract: |
In order to study passing ability of lunar rover in lunar soil, the mechanical
parameters between lunar wheel and lunar soil should be analyzed. The mechanical
parameters can reflect the mechanical relationship between lunar rover wheel and
regolith. These parameters include sinkage, drawbar pull, driving torque, motion
resistance and slip. In this paper, these parameters are measured by soil bin
test. The results show that, the four parameters increase with slip and loading,
except motion resistance of the test wheel which is under 70N at the speed of
25mm/s. The variations of the four parameters are slightly influenced by
velocity |

LINHAI ZHAO, YING JIANG |
Abstract: |
The balise is an important component in train operation control system
fulfilling the task of Ground-Train Point-Mode data transmission. This paper
presents a finite element based method for researching the electromagnetic
interaction process of balise up-link data transmission with respect to the
basic theoretical level. Based on the basic structure and working principle of
balise information transmission system, the model of balise up-link data
transmission is built by employing the finite element method. Through
simulation, the overall electromagnetic field distribution of this interaction
process is obtained. By means of contrast verification using simulation results
and practical data, the validity and credibility of this FEM based model is
proved in two perspectives, which will provide theoretical foundations for
further researches in terms of balise information transmission. |

firstly collecting the discrete point cloud data through RGB-D camera, replacing
the circular or oval surfel model with hexagonal model for modeling and
determining the surfel radius in light of neighborhood distribution of sample
points; Moreover, doing inside and outside relations test between one point
model and another discrete point model, building KD-Tree for each model, setting
the axis with the longest projection length as the separating axis, improving

Abstract: |
In high-rise building fire, a large amount of fresh air will be pressurized into
the fire floor when smoke ventilation and prevention system is used. The fresh
air dilutes the smoke, but it also reduces the efficiency of mechanical exhaust.
The assumption that vertical composition smoke control model (air curtain
combined with pressurization and exhaust fan) is put forward. The mathematic
model of smoke flow in high-rise building and κ-ε three-dimension turbulence
model with two equations are used, and the influences of smoke exhaust effect
with different smoke control modes are analyzed. The simulation and experiments
results show that: in strip corridor, air curtain can effectively prevents the
smoke moving into the atria, but the smoke control time is short relatively.
While using air curtain combined with positive pressure, the smoke control time
at least has an increase of 60s, and the vertical composition smoke control
model has the same effect as atria pressurization model, but the volume of fresh
air has decreased by 1/3. |

Abstract: |
Digital color image watermarking algorithm based on scale-invariant feature
transform(SIFT) and support vector regression(SVR) is proposed in this paper.
The input feature vectors are selected in the wavelet domain and then the train
model is obtained by applying the support vector regression theory. The
watermark information can be embedded or extracted by utilizing the above
trained SVR model. The proposed scheme can extract the digital watermark without
the help of the original digital image. The scale-invariant feature
transform(SIFT) is employed to against the scaling and rotation attacks. To
improve the security and robustness, the original watermark is scrambled at
first. Experimental results show that the proposed scheme is invisible and
robust to common signal processing attacks such as adding noise, JPEG

Abstract: |
Sensor nodes usually operate on small batteries with restricted sources of
energy in the wireless sensor networks (WSNs). Energy efficiency is one of the
most critical concerns for it. Clustered topology schedule is important method
of saving energy with some advantages of managing conveniently, using the energy
efficiently, and fusing the data easily. This paper gives an improved Alamouti
strategy between the transmitting cluster and receiving cluster in wireless
sensor networks after analyzing the model of wireless communication. In this new
strategy, a scheme of transmitting nodes selection is proposed in order to
improve the efficiency of transmitting. The strategy adjusts the number of nodes
participating cooperative transmission according to the channel character
between the data sensor nodes and sink node. Simulations show the results of
energy consumption among optimal algorithm, bound algorithm and random
algorithm. And the superiority of the new scheme is confirmed. Some rules are

Abstract: |
Fault diagnosis of analog circuit is of essential importance for guaranteeing
the reliability and maintainability of electronic systems. Taking into account
the requirements and characteristics of analog circuit fault diagnosis,
two-level diagnostic structure for analog circuit is proposed in this paper.
Analog circuit fault diagnosis can be regarded as a pattern recognition issue
and addressed by multi-class SVM. Aiming at the uncertainty of the node
arrangement and the error accumulation phenomenon, the improved directed acyclic
graph support vector machine (DAGSVM) based on fisher separability measure in
high dimensional feature space and margin of SVM is proposed. In order to
eliminate redundant fault features and the impact of measure noise on the
diagnostic accuracy, simultaneously taking into account lightening the workload
of the classifier, the separability promotion algorithm based on kernel
principal component analysis (KPCA) plus linear discriminant analysis (LDA) is
proposed. Then the separability promotion algorithm is used to extract the
nonlinear fault features of analog circuit and the two-level structure based on
improved DAGSVM is applied to diagnose faults in analog circuit. The unbalanced
classification model based on SVM is adopted in the first level. The
effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by the experimental results. |

CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK FOR RECURSION IN COMPUTER PROGRAMMING |
Author: |
SABAH AL-FEDAGHI |
Abstract: |
Recursion is an important concept and a fundamental problem-solving technique in
computer science. Studies have reported that it is considered a very difficult
concept for students to learn and teachers to teach, and students have many
misconceptions about recursion. Tools proposed to overcome these difficulties
include visualization and algorithm animation. Conceptual models form the basis
of methods for teaching recursion and influence the instructional tactics used
when teaching it. Conceptual models of recursion have been found to provide a
necessary representation for understanding the mechanics of recursion. Several
of these models have been proposed, including the Russian dolls model, process
tracing model, mathematical induction model, and structure template model. These
are not based on a systematic foundation that visualizes the process in terms of
flows of the recursive algorithm from the stages of creating (copying) then
processing (executing) it. This paper presents such a methodical conceptual
picture that describes the recursive process in a precise, visual way that
assists in teaching and learning. The new model is illustrated by several
examples, including factorial and binary tree traversing. |

Abstract: |
This paper describes a new Expert System Based Software for Reduction of
Sequence Networks. The main aim is to develop a new tool that helps students to
reduce the corresponding sequence networks to its simplest form. Reduction of
sequence networks is important for power system fault analysis. The equivalent
positive-, negative- and zero- sequences are represented as a series and
series-parallel combination of per-unit impedance. Reduction process will
replaces them by the single equivalent impedance for each sequence network.
Using this tool, students will deeply understand the flow of reduction process.
Rather than that, the system is capable to examine the sequence network to
observe whether it can be reduced depends on the selected fault location. This
system applies the expert system concepts during the process. Hopefully this
tool will provide new medium in learning and teaching fault analysis besides
make it easy and interesting to learn. |

Abstract: |
Adaptive hypermedia systems (AHS) combine hypermedia, user modeling techniques
and a certain type of artificial intelligence that modifies the structure and
contents of hypermedia documents according to each user. We have many Internet
users now a days and also there are more number of webpages, it is very
difficult for the surfers to find the information they need. Users must browse
through a large hierarchy of concepts to find the information for which they are
looking for. Users should be provided with web content/links based on their
interests and preferences, thus allowing for more efficient and relevant
information access. User’s interests are based on his/her browsing behavior, the
sites he/she visits, his/her prior history, and detailed interactions on web
sites of interest to form a user interest profile. This paper focuses on
providing adaptive presentation to the surfers which involves personalization,
building and updating user profiles by monitoring and storing the users’
browsing habits, recommending content/links by web usage logs and providing
dynamic links via graphical objects. There are many Hypermedia Systems available
which are related to a specific Application. In this paper we study the general
purpose Adaptive Hypermedia System (AHLARM) for an application-independent

Abstract: |
This paper presents an algorithm to separate the heart sounds, using LabVIEW.
The proposed algorithm reads the audio sample signals in .wav format and
converts them into a 2-dimentional array. The values stored in this
2-dimentional array and the values of both the separation coefficients are
finally fed into the last phase of the algorithm which leads to the separation
of heart sounds. After separation, the S1 and S2 signal can be processed in
parallel or independently to infer more accurate results. This user friendly
technique of separating heart sounds makes it easy for the medical professionals
to interpret heart disorders and to further make a better diagnosis. |

Abstract: |
Gene expression data comprises a huge number of genes but have only few samples
that can be used to address supervised classification problems. This paper is
aimed at identifying a small set of genes, to efficiently distinguish various
types of biological sample; hence we have proposed a three-stage of gene
selection algorithm for genomic data. The proposed approach combines ReliefF,
mRMR (Minimum Redundancy Maximum Relevance) and GA (Genetic Algorithm) coded as
(R-m-GA). In the first stage, the candidate gene set is identified by applying
the ReliefF. While, the second minimizes the redundancy with the help of mRMR
method, which facilitates the selection of effectual gene subset from the
candidate set. In the third stage, GA with classifier (used as a fitness
function by the GA) is applied to choose the most discriminating genes. The
proposed method is validated on the tumor datasets such as: CNS, DLBCL and
Prostate cancer, using IB1 classifier. The comparative analysis of the R-m-GA
against GA and ReliefF-GA has revealed that the proposed method is capable of
finding the smallest gene subset that offers the highest classification
accuracy. |
