ENHANCED PLANTED(ℓ,D) MOTIF SEARCH PRUNE ALGORITHM FOR PARALLEL ENVIRONMENT |
Author: |
SATARUPA MOHANTY, BISWAJIT SAHOO |
Abstract: |
The Identification of inimitable patterns (motif) occurring in a set of
biological sequences could give rise to new biological discoveries and has been
studied considerably due to its paramount importance. In the field of
bioinformatics, motif search is the vital problem for its application in the
detection of transcriptional regulatory elements and transcription factor
binding sites (TFBS) which are crucial for the knowledge of drug design, human
disease, gene function etc. Many aspects of the motif search problem have been
identified in the literature. One of them is the planted (ℓ, d)-motif search
problem. In this paper, we propose a parallel extension of the existing PMSPRUNE
algorithm along with two additional features: those are neighbor generation on a
demand basis and omitting the duplicate neighbor checking with the help of a bit
vector implementation. The experimental result shows, the proposed multicore
algorithm in C, handles the problem for larger d value with fix length ℓ with a
speed up more than twice, without any additional requirement of space on a
2.4GHz PC with 4GB RAM. |

Abstract: |
The development of mechatronic systems imply different actors with different
specialties and therefore use different concepts. To have good communication
between the different stakeholders and permanent integration of sophisticated
services, we propose a unified approach based on the reference model for open
distributed systems. These include an enterprise viewpoint, which focuses on the
objectives and policies of the enterprise that the system is meant to Support.
To do this in the first place we developed a specification language to define
the mechatronics enterprise viewpoint. For that, We focus on the expression of
mechatronic enterprise policies that govern the behavior of mechatronic
enterprise objects .We develop a mechatronic policy language. After, we propose
to use a subset of the UML as a concrete notation for specifying mechatronics
enterprise viewpoint. We illustrate the ideas in the paper with a case study
that expose an enterprise specification of a braking system of a robot. |

Abstract: |
The Energy efficient being the main constraint for wireless sensor networks (WSN)
became an important area of interest for various researches in WSN. A lot of
work on conservation power consumption at a different layer of protocols is
present till date, of which energy conservation at a Medium access control (MAC)
layer is catching a lot of attention. Generally, The energy consumption it is a
main critical factor affecting the operational lifetime of individual nodes and
the entire network. The energy consumption in medium access control (MAC) for
wireless sensor network (WSN) affected by many reasons collision, overhearing,
Idle Listening, Control Overhead. The optimizing power consumption is a
challenge to prolong lifetime network. In this paper, we minimize the power
consumption of the B-MAC protocol for wireless sensor network (WSN) by using
Differential Evolution (DE) algorithm. Simulation experiments are carried out on
the discrete event simulator OMNET++ for the purposes of this research paper.
Moreover, the experimental analysis shows the improvement the energy consumption
of (DE-BMAC) can be conserved about (58.6%) more than B-MAC without affect the
network performance. |

ARABIC HANDWRITTEN WORD CATEGORY CLASSIFICATION USING BAG OF FEATURES |
Author: |
AYMAN AL-DMOUR, MOHAMMED ABUHELALEH |
Abstract: |
Human writing is highly variable and inconsistent, and this makes the offline
recognition of handwritten words extremely challenging. This paper describes a
novel approach that can be employed for the offline recognition of handwritten
Arabic words. Through conceptualizing each word as single, inseparable objects,
the proposed approach aims to recognize words in accordance with their complete
shape. This paper describes the bag-of-visual-words method that has been
effectively employed for the purposes of classifying images. The study consisted
of four main stages. First, a set of image patches were sampled for the purposes
of training, and a speeded up robust features (SURF) descriptor was then used to
characterize them. Following that, the bag-of-visual-words model was employed
through constructing the K-means clustering algorithm. A histogram of each whole
world was developed and this operated as the image feature vector. This was
employed to train the support vector machine classifier, which was then able to
effectively distinguish between handwritten words. Finally, the effectiveness of
the proposed method was tested using a sample of Arabic words extracted from the
IFN/ENIT database and the results indicated that the bag-of-visual-words
approach represents a promising method of recognizing and classifying
handwritten Arabic words. The best and average recognition rates of the proposed
method are 85% and 75% respectively. |

Abstract: |
As we know, online social media is gaining popularity nowadays as one of the
most used IT mediums. It allows users to communicate with each other across time
and space differences even as strangers. Recently, previous research has
acknowledged the importance of online social media as one of the most widely -
used IT tools for sharing information during a disaster event. Flooding is a
common natural disaster in the world and can result in loss of life and damage
to property. Online social media has itself become a means of knowledge sharing
during flooding events. Although online social media is gaining popularity, it
is unknown how this digital application will achieve the task of knowledge
sharing. Therefore, this study has been carried out to examine the use of online
social media as a knowledge sharing tool during flood disasters. The process of
developing this paper involved finding articles, papers, and news from other
researchers, and observing the nature of online social media groups and pages.
This paper will also use Australia and Malaysia as real examples of how online
social media is currently utilized during flood disasters. Hopefully, this study
will contribute to the introduction of a new era of understanding the usage of
online social media and its benefits during flood disasters. |

Author: |
VISHWANATH P., Dr. V M VISWANATHA |
Abstract: |
Learning based face classification technique is proposed in this paper to
improve Xiaochao Qu’s linear collaborative discriminant regression
classification (LCDRC). The LCDRC helps to find out a discriminant subspace by
increasing collaborative between-class reconstruction error and decreasing the
within-class reconstruction error simultaneously. With the aim of proposing the
further improvement of the accuracy of probe image classification by minimizing
the value of WCRC with the aid of our proposed methodology. Proposed methodology
used parallel process to find an optimal projection matrix with the aid of the
LCDRC method (arm A) & implement Widrow-Hoff learning method into the LCDRC (arm
B). Both arms A & arm B are varying with the calculation of WCRC & arm A returns
the current value of WCRC & arm B derives the future value of WCRC. Then, the
optimal projection matrix is derived by the proposed methodology after the
selection of suitable value of WCRC derived from the arm A & arm B method. |

Author: |
NAMYONG KIM, ANNA ANDONOVA, MINGOO KANG |
Abstract: |
The signal processing algorithms based on the lagged cross-correlation of
probability (LCCP) have been considered very effective in the multipath
environment with impulsive and DC noise coexisting in visual light/power line
communication (VLC/PLC) systems for energy saving intelligent buildings. To meet
the demand for higher data rates and more complicated sensor node configuration,
in this paper, performance enhancement methods by employing a normalized step
size in the LCCP-based algorithms which are sensitive to the scaling of system
input contaminated with impulses and DC noise are proposed through the analysis
of the behavior of optimum weight and the role of magnitude controlled input
(MCI) on influence of large errors. The normalized LCCP algorithm with the step
size normalized with the averaged power of the current MCI shows a faster speed
by about 5 times and has a lower minimum mean squared error by about 3 dB than
the conventional LCCP algorithm in blind equalization simulation for indoor VLC/PLC
channel models. |

Abstract: |
The Social Research Network Sites (SRNS), online platform used by researchers,
have huge amounts of information that would sometimes overwhelm the researchers.
However, they need a dashboard as a tool to provide awareness on current
information that are related to their fields of research; thus, the proposed
dashboard model for the researchers in the SRNS is designed. This paper aims to
discuss the validation of the dashboard model for the researchers in the SRNS by
conducting an interview session, which is conducted among the researchers that
consists of academic staffs and postgraduate students from the universities in
Malaysia. After being shown the dashboard model and the accompanying mock-up
prototyping representing the dashboard model, the researchers were asked to
gauge their satisfaction on the dashboard model and their intention of using the
model. The outcome of the interview is that the researchers are satisfied with
and intended to use the dashboard model, while suggesting some enhancement of
the dashboard components to be included in the dashboard model. The dashboard
model can be used by a developer of the SRNS as a guideline to develop a better
online platform for the researchers by including the dashboard in the SRNS. |

Abstract: |
E-Commerce implementation is a crucial process for organization to make it
successful and beneficial. As a consequence, intensive research works in the
area of e-Commerce implementation from a diverse range of views and findings
have been studied by many researchers. However, the aspect of
Business-to-Customer (B2C) e-Commerce implementation has yet been undertaken in
an understandable manner in the context of a full life cycle of information
systems development. This paper provides a systematic literature review of
existing research studies on e-Commerce implementation to discover the extent
focus of work based on theme in the implementation phases: pre-implementation,
during implementation and post implementation. Sixty five (65) selected primary
research studies have been analysed on the basis of implementation phase theme,
research approach and research area. The results show that majority papers
discussed B2C e-Commerce in the pre-implementation phase (49%) and applied
quantitative approach (63%) as the most popular research method. Two other
implementation phases namely during implementation phase and post implementation
phase has not been sufficiently addressed in the existing literature.
Furthermore, existing literature have significantly addressed factors related to
e-Commerce implementation but were not mapped to the appropriate implementation
phases. These factors list remains on surface without clear direction in which
e-Commerce implementation process is crucial for organizations. Thus, through a
systematic literature review this study suggests that more research is needed
for understanding the complex process of e-Commerce implementation in a more
holistic manner. In addition, there is a need for study to screen these factors
to a particular and more accurately “map” in the process of e-Commerce
implementation. |

Abstract: |
E-government integration has gained interest of researchers from different
perspectives. Some have studied it from organizational perspective; other
researchers have proposed models and recommended solutions for technical
problems in some systems. Other researchers deal with integration
interoperability or information sharing and often focus on integration in other
domains (e.g., supply chain management). Yet, not many efforts are dedicated
towards e-Government integration conceptualization. This paper renders a
panoramic overview on the past development, present status and future trends of
e-Government integration. This comprehensive and systematic assessment on
existing literature is hoped to serve as taxonomy for navigating and
understanding the research advancements towards e-Government integration. Based
on a content analysis method, this paper identifies e-Government integration
stakeholders, useful theories applied, and research methods employed. Our
findings suggest that there is a strong need for a better understanding of what
are valuable and compelling conceptions of e-Government integration and who are
the stakeholders involved. The lack of e-Government integration research is now
recognized; despite much research on the e-Government integration is far from
being understood. |

Abstract: |
In line with the advancement of internet technology, e-Tourism has become an
important platform for promotional, marketing and product development of tourism
products and services. It provides a way to perform relevant transactions as
well as mechanism to interact with potential tourists. E-Tourism has become
popular among Muslim tourists since they are also referring to the websites to
search for travelling information. As a Muslim, the travelling information that
they seek should comply with the need of the religion such as Halal food, prayer
time, religious places etc. However it is still difficult to find a specific and
comprehensive website that provide necessary information to the Muslim tourists
due to the lacking in the knowledge about information quality. Information
quality is an important element in e-commerce which is one of the Information
System (IS) success factors dimension based on IS success Model introduced by
[1]. Companies that sell products or services online must ensure that the
information provided on their website has certain criteria of information
quality which may influence the purchasing decision of the customers. 138
respondents amongst Muslim tourists participated in the survey that was
conducted both online and offline, which the data was then analyzed using SPSS
software. This paper will discuss, (i) The information that is expected by
Muslim tourists available on Islamic e-Tourism websites; and (ii) The
relationship between information quality with usefulness and information
satisfaction. The result has proven that Islamic content, timeliness,
legitimacy, relevancy, reliability, Islamic design, consistency, accessibility
and security are significant in predicting usefulness whereas for information
satisfaction, only relevancy, Islamic design and security and privacy are
significant. This study will benefit Islamic e-Tourism businesses, website
owners, developers and designers by providing a guideline on the expected
information that should be available on the website that serve Muslim tourists
and how to make sure that the website fulfill the requirements needed by them. |

Abstract: |
This paper studies nonlinear black box modeling of a lead acid battery using
SISO Hammerstein-Wiener Model. System identification is a method of measuring
the mathematical description of a system by processing the observed inputs and
outputs of the system. The developed model is based on Hammerstein-Wiener model.
In this paper, we estimate and validate nonlinear models from
single-input/single-output (SISO) data to find the one that best represents our
system dynamics. Two different output nonlinearity (wavelet network and sigmoid
network) are presented to compare the developed models. A pulse discharge test
is performed on a commercial automotive lead acid battery in order to collect
data to evaluate those models, results are presented and compared. |

Abstract: |
The purpose of this paper is to present our approach whose target is the
combination that results from the Semantic Web and the Business Intelligence
with a view to an integration of models stemming from these two areas. This
integration, that translates an integrated systemic perception, allows the
processing of a domain-specific ontology of interest in order to support
decision-making. Our approach aims at exploiting technological advances offered
by the architecture of a decision support system to analyze an ontology
generated from a corpus of documents related to the field of pedagogy. This
ontology, whose generation is based on ontology learning techniques, constitutes
a structured source of semantic data that can be analyzed by the suggested
system to deduce decisional indicators which can be exploited in the pedagogic
decision-making process. |

interface through GSM. It is applicable to banks, schools, colleges, home and
industrial appliances. Home mechanization, which is controlled by utilizing
Android advanced cell. The home apparatuses that have to control is associated
with relays connected with GPIO ports of the FPGA board which are activated and
deactivated through commands in serial communication (UART) from cell. Status of
the appliances sent via SMS through GSM SIM 900A module to a predefined numbers
programmed in system. The primary target of home computerization is to help
impeded and old matured individuals that will empower them to control home
apparatuses and caution them in some quick circumstances accordingly. Design is
synthesized on Xilinx Platform Studio (XPS)-Embedded Development Kit (EDK) and
implemented on Spartan-3E FPGA. |

Abstract: |
This research aims to compare and determine the real time influences of tuning
PID on the 3-phase induction motor real time using INFOU SCADA and monitor the
alterations of frequency, current, voltage and power as well using PQM II.
Tuning PID determination based on trial and error method then the curve were
displayed on INFOU SCADA and motor data were showed from PQM II. The results of
this research are the great influences of PID controller on induction motor. The
composite of controlling P, I, and D is able to improve the time rise and offset
level. By setting the valu of SV on 1500 rpm and PID value, such as P = 1, I =
10, and D = 0, the motor response displayed on INFOU SCADA graphic was good
where time for PV to get SV was fast enough 11 seconds. While motor data
monitored on PQM panel showed optimum speed of motor and did not exceed motor
capacity that is on its name plate. Frequency, current, voltage and active power
were 50 Hz, 1 Ampere, 151 Volt, and 0.06 kW respectively. The effect of tuning
PID on speed of 3-phase induction motor is seen on the graphic that are showed
on INFOU SCADA while the other variables are seen on the INFOU SCADA and PQM II
panel connected with 3-pahse induction motor. |

Abstract: |
The focus of this paper is to compare two artificial intelligent paradigms for
gesture recognition from videos of Indian sign language with artless
backgrounds. Hand and Head segmentation giving rise to shape features for the
entire video sequence is inputted to Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) and Fuzzy
Inference Engine (FIS). Chan Vase active contour extracts shape models for the
classifier. Two classifiers are inputted with same set of training and testing
samples. The classifiers are compared based on their data handling measured
using recognition rate and execution times measured by training and testing
times. The results indicate a tradeoff between training data size and execution
times of ANN and FIS. The classifiers were tested on 86 gestures from 10
different signers. |

Abstract: |
In this paper, a new method to select quasi-identifier (QI) to achieve
k-anonymity for protecting privacy is introduced. For this purpose, two
algorithms, Selective followed by Decompose algorithm, are proposed. The
simulation results show that the proposed algorithm is better. Extensive
experimental results on real world data sets confirm efficiency and accuracy of
our algorithms. |
