Abstract |
In a mobile environment, maintaining cache
consistency is challenging. Applying one type of consistency levels either
strict or weak is not suitable all the time, as the consistency requirements
mainly depend on the mobile application system and differ from one to another.
Also forcing the mobile client to use its cache data for the purpose of reading
only limits the functionality of the caching. The stateful scheme Multi-level
Mobile Cache Consistency Protocol that works in client-server architecture
supports different levels of consistency. The Mobile client is able to issue
updates transactions, and determine the consistency requirements upon its
interest. Based on the Multi-Level Mobile Cache Consistency Protocol this paper
presents a framework of stateful strategy; Application Based Multi-level Mobile
Cache Consistency Method (ABMMCCM) that preserves the advantages of multi-level
mobile cache consistency protocol and enhances its drawbacks. In ABMMCCM the
consistency requirements are designed at the server side based on the
application requirements, and each data item has a single consistency
requirement entry. The proposed framework is initially compared to Multi-level
Mobile Cache Consistency Protocol, and it appears that ABMMCCM reduces the
number of messages transfer between the base server and the mobile client, which
helps in better utilizing the wireless network, and reduces the overhead from
the mobile client and the base server. |

Abstract |
Application of SMS advertising for
enhancing communication with the consumers has drawn significant attention of
the contemporary researchers. This study examines whether SMS advertising can be
an effective medium of advertising in Bangladesh. The key ingredient of this
research is the perception of consumers regarding the adoption SMS advertising.
Qualitative and quantitative data derived from field interviews with prospective
customers of different business has been used to identify potential
relationships among the impact of SMS advertising adoption in Bangladesh and the
perception of the respondents. With insight from the interviews, hypotheses has
been derived and tested with quantitative data gathered via a direct survey
instrument with 160 business stakeholders who has the potentiality to get
influenced directly in if the system can be established across four divisions of
Bangladesh. The propositions presented in this study provide preliminary
evidence that consumers has shown positive attitude in accepting SMS ads via
their mobile phones. The study will contribute significantly regarding the
policy making of both the business professionals as well as advertising
professionals in selecting and establishing the proper advertising methods as
well as medium in future for operating in the best possible way in the country.
Future researches on this particular field may require to look at issues like
cultural factors of the concerned communities and global phenomenon. |

Abstract |
In the course of carrying out its mission
the primary challenge facing e-gov is how to deliver secure online services to
businesses and citizens. For this paper, the Virtual Private Network (VPN) will
be the solution selected to deal with this challenge. VPN can resolve these
issues by simplifying and speeding the delivery of on-line services and
information to citizens, businesses, and inter-agencies safely and securely. The
following paper is organized into seven sections: I) a brief introduction to e-gov;
II) security and privacy of e-gov; III) Real World Case: Ontario, Canada; IV)
VPN Technology and Network Security Protocols (VPN tunneling and VPN tunneling
protocols through a look at their capabilities, advantages, and disadvantages);
V) VPN Authentication, to include two-party and trusted third-party
authentication and their capabilities, merits, and limitations; and VI)
conclusion. |

Signal Processing of Heart Rate
Variability using wavelet transform for Mental Stress Measurement |

Abstract |
This paper presents the evaluation of
mental stress measurement using heart rate variability. The heart rate signals
are processed first using Fourier transform, then it is applied to wavelet
transform. The activity of the autonomic nervous system is noninvasively studied
by means of autoregressive (AR) frequency analysis of the heart-rate variability
(HRV) signal. Some methods of noise rejection and robustness for AR recursive
identification are presented that make on-line frequency analysis of the
heart-rate variability signal more reliable. The goodness of the algorithms is
first tested through simulations, and then results obtained on real data during
ischemic episodes are presented. Spectral decomposition of the Heart Rate
Variability during whole night recordings was obtained, in order to assess the
characteristic fluctuations in the heart rate and their spectral parameters
during REM and NREM sleep stages. Mental stress is accompanied by dynamic
changes in autonomic nervous system (ANS) activity. Heart rate variability(HRV)
analysis is a popular tool for assessing the activities of autonomic nervous
system. This paper presents a novel method of HRV analysis for mental stress
assessment using fuzzy clustering and robust identification techniques. The
approach consists of 1)online monitoring of heart rate signals, 2) signal
processing (e.g.,using the continuous wavelet transform to extract the local
features of HRV in time-frequency domain) |

Abstract |
Medical information systems evolve
constantly. Homecare is a part of these systems. Nowadays, the organization of
homecare arouses an increasing interest. By organization, we mean particularly
the choice of partners, distribution problems, tasks coordination, and the
resolution of all participants’ resources-conflicts that implies a reliable
communication. The quality of the homecare relies on competences,
qualifications, and the organization of the participating partners. So, it is
necessary to assure a permanent interaction. It is evident that the agent
paradigm is the most suitable one for modeling the homecare organization since
it is capable of taking into account all its properties (heterogeneity,
distribution, decision making, etc.). In this paper we would like to present
interactions in an agent-based architecture for a cooperative information system
that supports the homecare and contains all the necessary constituents for its
functioning. |

Abstract |
The large sizes of existing databases are
rapidly increasing with time. In this environment, there is a need to help
users, who are usually not familiar with SQL statements and the schema of a
database, in getting the information sorted according to their relevancy. In
response to this need, many researchers have introduced the capability of
querying a database based on a list of keywords. A user does not have to state a
full SQL query, but just provide the list of keywords that seem to be of
interest. The system would then return the relevant records from different
tables that appear to be close to what the user is looking for, based on the
list of keywords that he/she provides. However, there is a need to improve the
efficiency and effectiveness of existing systems. In this paper, we introduce a
framework for processing keywords-based queries that improves the efficiency and
effectiveness. In addition, the performance results are presented. |

Abstract |
In recent years, as a result of advancing
VLSI technology, OFDM has received a great deal of attention and been adopted in
many new generation wideband data communication systems such as IEEE 802.11a,
HiPerLAN/2,digital audio/video broadcasting (DAB/DVB-T) and asymmetric digital
subscriber line (ADSL), very high speed digital subscriber line (VDSL) in
wireless and wired communications, respectively. In these communication systems
the different applications mentioned above have different demands in operation
speed and length of FFT/IFFT. The modified Mixed Radix 8-2 Butterfly FFT with
bit reversal for the output sequence derived by index decomposition technique is
our proposed VLSI system architecture to design the prototype FFT/IFFT processor
for OFDM systems.
In this paper the analysis of several FFT algorithms such as radix-2, radix-4,
split radix and mixed radix 4-2 and proposed mixed radix8-2 were designed using
VHDL and outputs are analysed. Mainly
the results show that the proposed processor architecture can save the area
approximately 5% and power more than 40% when compared to basic radix 2 system,
which may be attractive for many real-time systems. Reduction in area and power
can further leads to less implementation cost. Also the proposed algorithm makes
an offer the simple bit reversal mechanism which is only supported by a fixed
radix FFT algorithm. |
