Abstract: |
This paper presents an off-line signature verification system that aims at
verifying Arabic and Persian signatures. Arabic and Persian signatures have
commonality in shapes, fine and general details. Moreover, both have unique
general features that distinguish them from other signatures. The proposed
system is based on Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) to extract common features
to aid the verification step. This system consists of four steps: preprocessing,
signature registration, feature extraction, and signature verification. Results
show that the proposed system achieved good verification measures with low false
acceptance rate (FAR) of 1.56%, and low average error rate of 6.23%, and false
rejection rate (FRR) of 10.9%. The proposed system proved to be beneficial when
compared to other works. |

A 3D MODEL ASYMMETRIC WATERMARKING ALGORITHM BASED ON OPTIMIZATION STATISTICS |
Author: |
XIUHU TAN |
Abstract: |
The popularity of 3D content is on the rise since it provides an immersive
experience to viewers, which has motivated us to develop techniques for
watermarking 3D models so that we can hide copyright information behind them. In
this paper, a novel method suitable for 3D models asymmetric watermarking
applications is proposed based on optimization statistics. Through choosing the
vertexes, we are able to obtain to the embedded watermark that has the least
modified to topology transform of the 3D geometry model, and then project the
watermark to the space that has the least mean square error value. So, we obtain
that the robustness of the approach lies in hiding a watermark in the space that
is least susceptible to the 3D model potential modification. Through analysis
and constraint the conditions, we can obtain a high detection probability, a low
false alarm probability. The robustness of our method is demonstrated by various
attacks through computer simulation. |

Abstract: |
Wireless multi-hop relay systems have become very important technologies in
mobile communications. These systems ensure high-speed data transfer and
extended coverage area at a low cost. In this paper, we proposed two scenarios.
In the first scenario we studied the performance of a two-way multi-hop relay
network and proposed a half-duplex mode amplify-and-forward relay with two
cases. In the first case, we studied a fixed relay node (FRN) with (qth) users
for two-way performance keeping user equipment (UE) is fixed and is moving at
different velocities toward FRN. In second case, we proposed a new connection
between the (kth ) moving relay nodes (MRN) and users had the same the
velocities and times, in which users are independently moving between them. In
the second scenario the balanced power algorithm for MRN is proposed, this
algorithm is control of the transmitted power over cell radius to achieve the
required SNR and throughput at the users with reducing the consumption
transmitted relay power. Is has been shown from the simulation results that
there is saving nearly 75% from transmitted power after using proposed
algorithm. |

Abstract: |
Image clustering is one of the applications of content based image retrieval.
The purpose of image clustering is to group the object inside the images into
different cluster. Using all color of images lead to reduce the accuracy of
image clustering. Therefore, this research focuses on the color of the
foreground in an image. Image matting has been proposed to subtract between
foreground and background of an image. Then, the color histogram of foreground
object was used as the feature in image clustering. By applying image matting,
the accuracy of image clustering can be improved. |

PERSPECTIVE: TOWARDS E-LEARNING EFFECTIVENESS |
Author: |
YUSMINAR YUNUS, JUHANA SALIM |
Abstract: |
E-learning has emerged as an attractive alternative for the delivery of teaching
and learning/ training. Nevertheless, most e-learning focused more on technical
issues whereby the pedagogical perspective is not given much emphasis. The lack
of emphasis on pedagogical perspective will affect the quality and effectiveness
of e-learning. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the effectiveness of
e-learning in the public sector from the pedagogical perspectives and to
identify the evaluation criteria which contribute to the effectiveness of
e-learning. This paper attempts to develop a model for evaluating e-learning in
the public sector. Mixed methods was chosen as the data collection technique.
Quantitative data was gathered from the questionnaires, whereas qualitative data
was gathered from interviews and case study. The overall findings showed that
e-Training is effective from pedagogical perspectives, whereas EPSA is
moderately effective. The results also showed that eleven evaluation criteria
contributes to e-learning effectiveness namely individual motivation & attitude,
individual learning style, theory-objective-learning outcome & knowledge
transfer, interactivity & content, structure design, interface design,
multimedia design, instruction and help, learner-facilitator interaction,
learner-learner interaction, and learner-content interaction. An ‘E-learning
Evaluation Model’ was also developed which comprised of 4 dimensions namely
individual, learning, content and interaction. |

Abstract: |
In the past two decades, wireless communications has attracted vast popularity
in which Radio Frequency (RF) and Optical Wireless (OW) have been applied for
transferring data. OW has the potential to be an alternative to RF and fiber
optic communication systems. WDM technique can be easily integrated with outdoor
OWC systems and it can significantly increase the bitrate in OWC systems. This
paper describes reviews of the current state of the art WDM-based OWC systems.
Then, challenges of WDM-based OWC are clustered. This paper proposes solitonic

Abstract: |
In order to make up for the deficiency of the MAD prediction scheme of G012 rate
control algorithm, we propose a weighted budget method based on image luminance
difference. To improve the BU(basic unit) rate control, we put forward a method
to distribute coding bits based on PSNR(peak signal to noise ratio). The
experimental results show that, compared with G012 algorithm using the new
algorithm should get better video quality. At the same time, when encoding rate
control for video sequences of faster scenes changes by using our algorithm, the
advantages are particularly prominent. |

Abstract: |
Hierarchical clustering is the grouping of objects of interest according to
their similarity into a hierarchy, with different levels reflecting the degree
of inter-object resemblance. It is an important area in data analysis and
pattern recognition. In this paper, the scholar proposes a new approach for
robust hierarchical clustering based on the distance function between each data
object and the cluster centers. This method avoids the need to compute the
distance of each data object to the cluster center. It saves running time. The
experimental results showed that the best clusters were obtained using EIDA
method, this suggests that this similarity measure would be applicable to
biological data sets. |

This paper presents Load Current Control based on Luenberger Observer for
Three-Phase Power Converter SVPWM with current regulation. The use of observer
is intended to replace the use of dc current sensor, so it eliminates the
nonlinearity problem and drop voltage caused the sensor. This research develops
a controller to improve the time response of the dc output voltage of the
three-phase power converter based on load current estimation. The simulation
results show that overshoot the output voltage on load change from full load to

SVM BASED ROAD SURFACE DETECTION TO IMPROVE PERFORMANCE OF ABS |
Author: |
T.ANBALAGAN, C.GOWRISHANKAR, Dr.A.SHANMUGAM |
Abstract: |
Advance information about the road surface a vehicle is going to encounter can
improve the performance of Antilock Braking System (ABS). For e.g. the initial
slip cycles caused by the ABS could be avoided, if it is already known that the
vehicle is on a surface having a low coefficient of friction (µ). In this paper,
an algorithm is developed that detects different road surfaces using streaming
video acquired from a camera mounted on the hood of the vehicle. The road
surfaces detected here are asphalt road, cement road, sandy road, rough asphalt
road (asphalt road which is deteriorating), grassy road and rough road. The
value of coefficient of friction (µ) is also given out with the detected
surfaces to obtain additional information about the road surfaces. Split µ (a
road having different µ conditions on the left and right side of the vehicle)
and µ jump (different µ conditions on the front and rear of the vehicle) are
also pre detected. One method was not sufficient to achieve the goals of this
algorithm. Here several simple techniques like the Canny edge algorithm,
intensity histogram, contours, Hough transform and image segmentation were
employed and compared with the Support Vector Machine (SVM). To prevent
misdetections, the road surface detection during high motion blur is prohibited. |

Abstract: |
The advancements in communication and embedded technology have created more
chances to design energy-efficient wireless network. On the other hand, Wireless
Sensor Network plays an important role in surveillance applications includes
military applications such as battlefield surveillance, industrial and consumer
applications, process monitoring and control, machine health monitoring, and so
on. In that the sensor nodes have to be reliable and to be more specific, the
protocols should be energy efficient through the best routing with the knowledge
of the neighbor nodes in the sensor network. Since in surveillance environment,
where all nodes must be easily contacted with each other at any cost without
delayed time, large over head and packet loss due to minimum available energy.
In this paper, an energy efficient protocol named High Power Energy Aware
Routing (HPEAR) has been proposed to increase the life time of the WSN in the
congestive environment. The performance of the proposed protocol has also been
compared with the existing routing protocols. The simulation results show that
the proposed HPEAR is efficiently adapting routes to the nodes with the
available power to make the network in to an intelligent one without
compromising the Quality of Service. |

VIBRATION CONTROL OF PIEZOELECTRIC FLEXIBLE STRUCTURE USING ROBUST CONTROL
METHODOLOGY |
Author: |
JUNFENG HU, GUIYANG XU |
Abstract: |
Active vibration control of a smart flexible cantilever beam was studied by
using mode theory and μ synthesis method. The actuator is piezoceramic patch,
the sensor is strain gauge. The finite element method and experimental modal
test was applied to obtain the dynamic model of the smart structure. Taking
account into uncertainty of the external disturbance and measurement noise, and
uncertainty of natural frequency, damping ratio and actuator parameters of the
system, μ synthesis approach was applied to design the vibration controller by
selecting mode displacement as evaluation signal and selecting appropriate
weighting function according to amplitude and frequency characteristics of the
actual signal. A controller with same weightings was also designed and
implemented for comparison analysis. The performances of the controller are
verified experimentally in this study. Experimental results showed that
-controller can provide good disturbance rejection and is more robust to
parameter variations than controller. And the proposed controllers can
effectively suppress the vibration response of the flexible beam. |

TAO LIU, JI-JUN XU |
Abstract: |
The peer-to-peer network is based on location mechanism of distributed objects,
which is conducive to sharing of resources among users. The commonly using
overlay network topology method based on interesting group in the existing
peer-to-peer network should be accomplished collaboratively by users, which
increases system traffic and occupies large bandwidth. The paper brought out a
kind of routing model in peer-to-peer network based on Successful Accessing Rate
(SAR). The model organizes user group based on SAR and conducting resource
searching in the high-low order of SAR. In the model, each node runs
independently, which decrease system maintenance cost and provides new idea to
solve free-rider problem. Simulation results show that the model effectively
improve recall rate of system and also solve fairness problem. |

Abstract: |
In this era of advanced technology, mobile commerce is going to become popular
due to rapid development of technology but this technology needs a lot of
struggle for maintaining secure communication and protection from threats. In
this research, a mechanism for secure and authentic communication in mobile
commerce based on joint signature scheme is presented. This technique ensures
the integrity of digitally signed messages using joint signature scheme which
show that the message which is sent by the message sender have not been altered
by any unauthorized person by digitally signing the message. This technique is
efficient in mobile domain because it is less computative and easily used with
limited resources in mobile commerce. Joint signature scheme is based on hash
functions and encryption/decryption technique to produce joint signature with
the help of message sender and trusted third party and also to authenticate the
message for the message sender and the message receiver. This technique
overcomes the drawbacks of traditional digital scheme, such as
computation/communication load, complexity, public key operations etc. |

TOWARD A CONCEPTUAL BASE FOR PROTOCOL ENGINEERING |
Author: |
SABAH AL-FEDAGHI, ALAA AL-SAQA |
Abstract: |
A protocol refers to a set of rules governing the exchange of data between
entities. Several notations are utilized in the specification of protocols,
including different types of diagrams such as flowchart-like depictions, UML
sequence diagrams, and state transition diagrams. This paper is a contribution
to this area, proposing a diagrammatic methodology for protocol specification.
It is based on the notion of flow of “primitive” things in a system with six
stages: creation, release, transfer, arrival, acceptance, and processing. The
aim is to introduce a conceptual and complete description of basic streams of
flow among entities and stages including “crossing points” that need rules of
data transfer. The resultant specification is a map over which a protocol can be
superimposed. |

FUZZY COORDINATOR BASED INTELLIGENT AGENTS FOR TEAM COORDINATION BEHAVIOR IN
CLOSE COMBAT GAMES |
Author: |

HERY PURNOMO |
Abstract: |
Nowadays, many commercial computer games on the market have employed some AI
techniques especially on the behaviors of NPCs (Non-Playable Characters). The
aim is to make the NPCs game more human-like, immersive or natural. In a close
combat game, creating strong AI forces require team coordination of NPCs. By
employing an AI based agent (i.e. intelligent agent) for team coordination of
NPCs leads to a deeper sense of immersion since NPCs are allowed to work
together to produce better tactics and strategies. This technique faces many
challenges since the intelligent agents are based on state transitions. The
state transition leads to the decision for selecting the appropriate behavior by
itself. Therefore, sometimes the selection could be failed to accomplish a team
objective. This is due to weak coordination between NPCs and the intelligent
agent. This paper describes the Fuzzy coordinator method to support the
intelligent agent for selecting suitable behavior for each NPC. The intelligent
agent who becomes the team leader will monitor and analyze health of each NPC,
which one is strong and weak, which one has to back off or stays in the battle.
The experimental result demonstrates that by employing the above technique, NPC
behavior selection lead to appropriate coordination from leader which
represented by keeping the health parameter 75 % and 50 % at maximum and minimum
respectively |

IMPROVED ALGORITHM FGF-LRU FOR I/O PERFORMANCE OF LUSTRE |
Author: |
LI LINLIN, SUN LIANGXU |
Abstract: |
In Lustre parallel file system the I/O performance of coarse-grained data access
is good, while the I/O performance of fine-grained data access is relatively
worse. Therefore optimizing the I/O performance of fine-grained access is the
key for the improvement of the system's overall I/O performance. This study
analyzed Lustre's I/O access mode, fine-grained I/O service procedure and page
reclaim algorithm, and proposed a Fine-Grained First LRU (FGF-LRU) algorithm. In
this algorithm, fine-grained I/O pages are retained in cache of OST and client
as long as possible, to slow down the pages' sinking, and extend the time that
the pages are in main memory, and thereby, decrease the number of times of disk
access and reduce the disk access cost. Through comparison and analysis of the
test data, the algorithm is confirmed effective; I/O performance of fine-grained
access is improved without affecting the coarse-grained I/O performance, and the
system overall I/O performance is improved. |
