VEHICLE REWARDING FOR VIDEO TRANSMISSION OVER VANETS USING REAL NEIGHBORHOOD AND
RELATIVE VELOCITY (RNRV) |
Author: |
WALID SHAHER M. YOUSEF, MUHAMMAD RAFIE HJ. MOHD. ARSHAD, AMMAR ZAHARY |
Abstract: |
Video transmission is a critical issue in VANETs. The main problem is how to
extend the lifetime of video streaming in order to overcome routing overhead in
the high mobility environment of VANET highways using the concept of rewarding
vehicles in reliable zones/clusters with the long lifetime. This paper conducts
a novel model based on the assumption that the relative velocity should
essentially affect the dynamic topology and network lifetime, especially in high
mobility environment, which is a vital property of VANETs. In this paper, a
mathematical model named Vehicle Rewarding for Video Transmission over VANETs
Using Real Neighborhood and Relative Velocity (RNRV) has been developed to
optimize video transmission by the concept of real neighborhood of the rewarded
vehicle. The idea behind the proposed model is to maximize VANET lifetime and
minimize routing overhead of the network using the concept of relative velocity
of neighbors within the transmission range of a rewarded vehicle. The concept of
real neighborhood introduced by the proposed model decreases the impact of high
mobility in VANET highways because it maximizes the dynamic topology of a VANET
zone/cluster, which, consequently, leads to better routing path and link
durations. The proposed model has been implemented and examined using MATLAB.
Results show that number of real neighbors is critically influenced by the
factors of relative velocity and distance of vehicles within the transmission
range of the rewarded vehicle. |

Abstract: |
It is necessary to find the human inter-rater agreement in emotion recognition
research especially when handling with publicly available database. This paper
discusses the Cohens Kappa coefficient technique to verify the actual tagged
emotion categories for hybrid emotion model using music video as stimulus. This
method has been done by finding the degree of inter-rater reliability between
the five selected raters. As the results, the values of Cohens Kappa
coefficients are over 0.87 for four actual tagged emotion categories which are
happy, relaxed, sad and angry. These values demonstrate that the degree of
inter-rater agreement are excellent. The actual tagged emotion categories are
selected based on the division of average value of arousal-valence rating. |

A MULTI-POPULATION HARMONY SEARCH ALGORITHM FOR THE DYNAMIC TRAVELLING SALESMAN
PROBLEM WITH TRAFFIC FACTORS |

Abstract: |
Recently, there has been a growing attention to employ evolutionary algorithms (EAs)
in addressing dynamic optimisation problems (DOPs) due to its significance in
real world applications. The most notable challenge when solving DOPs is that
the objective should not only attempt to seek the global optimum by an efficient
way, but be able to keep track the optimal solution during the environmental
changes. Thus, several mechanisms have been developed for EAs in order to
improve the search performance of the algorithm in accommodating the dynamic
changes such as by increasing the diversity of the population. Among these
strategies, the multi-population mechanism has been found beneficial for EAs for
DOPs. Dynamic travelling salesman problems (DTSPs) are categorised under DOPs.
In the Travelling Salesman Problem (TSP), a salesman wants to distribute items
sold in different cities starting from his home city and returning after he
visited all the cities to his starting city again by optimising his time and
tour efficiently. However, in the DTSPs, it is more challenging to consider the
traffic delays that may affect the route of the salesman and change the time
planned beforehand. Therefore, the salesman will optimise his time again and
find a new alternative route to avoid long traffic delays. The presented work
aims to build upon the state of the art research methodologies for the DTSPs
with traffic factors, where in order to cope with the dynamic behaviour, a
multi-population approach is applied to harmony search algorithm that mimics the
musical process of trying to find a state of harmony. Moreover, a multiple pitch
adjustment rate (PAR) strategy is proposed since PAR assumed to be the moving
rate from one city to the nearest city in the TSP. The performance of the
proposed multi-population HS algorithm is verified on two variations of DTSPs
with traffic factors, i.e., random and cyclic traffic delays. Based on different
DTSP test cases, the experimental results show that the proposed approach is
able to obtain competitive results when compared to the best-known results in
the scientific literature. |

MODELLING OF BIOGAS PRODUCTION FROM BANANA STEM WASTE WITH NEURAL NETWORKS
LEARNING STRATEGIES TO OPTIMSE THE PRODUCTION |
Author: |
ABDUL SAHLI FAKHARUDIN, MD NASIR SULAIMAN, NORWATI MUSTAPHA |
Abstract: |
Biogas production from waste is a valuable renewable energy and with better
process design, maximum biogas yield can be obtained from the same amount of
waste. Modelling and optimisation are widely used in biological and chemical
process domain to increase and to improve the efficiency of this process. In
recent years, intelligence computation is applied to design a better process
model and optimised biogas yield. This paper presents a comparative study of
several neural networks learning (back-propagation, resilient propagation,
Lavenberg-Marquardt and particle swarm optimisation) algorithms for process
modelling and optimisation and its relation with the optimisation result. The
result shows an improvement of around 10% of biogas production and 8% more from
the engineering mathematical optimisation. Two main complications were
identified, first one is the high accuracy modelling is not a guarantee for
optimised production and the second is a false solution with high optimised
production may happen. To clarify this situation, a solution is suggested using
factor deviation percentage. |

COMBINING DECISION TREE AND BACK PROPAGATION GENETIC ALGORITHM NEURAL NETWORK
FOR RECOGNIZING WORD GESTURES IN INDONESIAN SIGN LANGUAGE USING KINECT |
Author: |
WIJAYANTI NURUL KHOTIMAH, YOHANES ADITYA SUSANTO, NANIK SUCIATI |
Abstract: |
Sign language is a media for speech and/or hearing problems people to
communicate. Different kind of sign languages exist in the world such as
Indonesian Sign Language (ISL), American Sign Language (ASL), Chinese Sign
Language (CSL), British Sign Language (BSL), Brazilian Sign Language (BSL), and
France Sign Language (FSL). In Indonesia, the used of ISL was less extensive
because not all people understand it. People that do not have understanding on
ISL cannot translate it. Therefore an ISL translation system is required. Many
researches about sign language translation system had been done for FSL, BSL,
FSL, and CSL. However, research on ISL is still limited and still need
development. Therefore we proposed a new system for recognizing ISL word
gestures. In this research we captured user skeleton by using Kinect. From those
skeletons only nine skeletons were used as feature by computing their vector
value, angle value, and distance value. Totally 28 features were extracted. Then
the combination of Decision Tree and Back Propagation Neural Network (BPGANN)
was implemented for classifier. For experiment, eight ISL vocabularies were
tested by two people. The recognition accuracy of this system, although
evaluated with small vocabulary, presents very promising result with value 96%. |

A SECURE DATA COLLECTION FROM SENSOR NODES USING MOBILE SINK IN COMPUTATIONALLY
CONSTRAINED WIRELESS SENSOR NETWORKS |
Author: |
M.GIRI, S.JYOTHI |
Abstract: |
In wireless sensor networks for every data transmission or data collection,
sensor power will be reduced and power saving is one of the major problem in
this case. Rolim et al. [1] proposed a method of data gathering by using
adaptive stop times, at every node based on network traffic delay time is
increased to collect more data from sensor nodes, and if the sink node is not
selected properly then it will lead to increase network delay time. In this
paper we introduced a new secure reliable data collection and data transmission
method to collect sensed data by reducing power consumption. We simulated
proposed method using network simulator tool by increasing data rate 100, 200,
300, 400, 500 KBPS, performance of proposed method is evaluated using metrics
like network delay, power consumption, overhead, packet drop and delivery ratio.
At the end, we compare our results with existing method and our methods exhibit
better results when compared with existing method. |

A NEW APPROACH ON STEP CLUSTERING BASED GREEDY ROUTING IN VEHICULAR AD HOC
NETWORKS |
Author: |
M. JAGADEESAN, Dr .C. CHANDRASEKAR, Dr.K.JAYASUDHA |
Abstract: |
VANETs are recent mobile wireless ad hoc networks which plays an important role
in communications and various commercial applications. Routing of data is a
challenge because of moving of the nodes ie., vehicles. Then the disconnection
in between the nodes are always not predictable. The node which we are sending
may be at our communication range at that moment, but after the sending of
packet, due to some circumstances it may not reach the correct target. In the
mean time the target node may go out of the transmission range. This happens due
to many reasons like low packet delivery, increased packet overhead or routing
overhead. In this paper we propose SCBGR(Step Clustering Based Greedy Routing)
which is a position based routing algorithm which uses weight score method for
efficient packet forwarding. We had used ns2.33 simulator. The routing overhead
has been reduced considerably comparing to the recent routing protocols. The
simulation results shows that SCBGR has overcome the limitations of the previous
protocols. |

COMPARISON BETWEEN MEMD-LSSVM AND MEMD-ARIMA IN FORECASTING EXCHANGE RATE |
Author: |
NUR IZZATI ABDUL RASHID, ANI SHABRI, RUHAIDAH SAMSUDIN |
Abstract: |
Due to the non-stationary and non-linearity behaviors of exchange rate data, an
appropriate forecasting model that can capture these behaviors is crucial. This
paper comparing the performance of modified empirical mode decomposition (EMD)
and autoregressive integrated moving average (ARIMA) named as MEMD-ARIMA and
modified empirical mode decomposition (EMD) and least squares support vector
machine (LSSVM) named as MEMD-LSSVM in forecasting daily USD/TWD exchange rate.
EMD technique is firstly used to decompose the exchange rate data that resulting
in few intrinsic mode function (IMF) and one residual. In order to improve the
result of the EMD so that more effective input can be provided to the
forecasting models which are LSSVM and ARIMA, they are clustered into several
groups via permutation distribution clustering (PDC). The successfulness of
LSSVM in forecasting is depending on the input number selection. The problem is
the input number selection is not based on any theories or techniques.
Therefore, partial autocorrelation function (PACF) is used in this paper in
determining the best number of input for LSSVM. This paper finds that the
implementations of PDC has improved the performance of EMD-LSSVM and EMD-ARIMA
and also suggest the PDC is suitable either for linear or non-linear model. |

A GENERIC AGENT-BASED DYNAMIC PROCESS SIMULATION FRAMEWORK: A SELF-ADAPTIVE
MODELLING APPROACH |
Author: |
YIM LING LOO, ALICIA Y.C. TANG, AZHANA AHMAD, AIDA MUSTAPHA |
Abstract: |
Agent-based simulation (ABS) modelling had been a prevalent approach in
simulating dynamic processes for a variety of domains. However, the constructed
models are usually domain-specific in nature. The proprietary issue of existing
modelling approaches limit the possibilities of reusing those constructed models
in other application domains. Such limitation also poses issues in model
extensibility and customization. Thus, this paper presents a generic ABS
framework with self-adaptive modelling approach to address the aforesaid
limitations. In the ABS framework, self-adaptive modelling architecture supports
construction and re-construction of models autonomously. Simulations were
conducted for a few dynamic processes derived from two case studies of New
Student Registration and Crime Investigation. Simulation results show that
different ABS models were successfully developed, extended and customized by the
self-adaptive modelling component in the framework. |

Author: |
SUNITHA HD, KESHAVENI N |
Abstract: |
LDMOS is a device of choice for its better breakdown voltage characteristics in
many of the applications. LDMOS offers various advantages over conventional
MOSFETs with little process change. In this paper a way to improve breakdown
characteristics of the device by shallow trench isolation between drain and
source is explored. The complete fabrication process is modeled and the device
performance is simulated. The modeled device gives a breakdown voltage of 54V.
The device is shown to have a threshold voltage of 1.46V making it suitable for
high voltage technology. Further, a lithography step followed by boron
implantation is suggested to improve the Ron characteristics of the device. A
nearly two times improvement in the Ron is achieved. Comparison results
presented prove the performance improvement over existing commercially available LDMOS devices. |

Abstract: |
Big-data takes us into new epoch of data, which commonly referred to be as a big
data. It pose a challenges to the researchers with more velocity, more variety
and large volumes and software engineers are working on variety of methods in
avoiding cost of development process. Where the commonly used software’s are not
able to imprisonment, accomplish and process within the lapsed time.
Furthermore, there is a need to discover new procedures for to process large
volumes of data to optimization, datamining and knowledge discovery. This
ambitions and motivations are drives the researchers to Big-data analytics and
big-data mining. Over the earlier few centuries, different procedures have been
proposed to use the MapReduce model-which decrease the space of search with
distributed or parallel computing-for different big data mining and analytics
tasks and these methods are used in providing a cost effective solution across
various software development models using Bayesian Approaches. In this paper we
propose an algorithm which reduces the search space based on user’s perspective
and MapReduce to mine valid frequent patterns, approximate patterns and rare
patterns from high volumes of ambiguous data in a divide-and-conquer fashion and
we evaluate the performance through Hadoop and this proposal proves that
Bayesian approach will not only improves the strategies used in software
development process and also cut down the cost of the project during the
implementation. Our implementation results prove that proposed approach is more
realistic across pervasive and distributed computing environments. |

Abstract: |
Breast cancer has been one of the major causes of death among women since the
last ten years and it has become an emergency for the healthcare systems of
industrialized nations. This disease became the most common cancer among women.
Today, detecting breast cancer at its early stage is the primary factor that
will increase the chances of survival and will provide more options for
treatment. Because of this, the proponent develops a computer – aided detection
and classification system for mammographic abnormalities. These abnormalities
are limited only with microcalcification and masses. These abnormalities are
classified as to benign or malignant. The system is divided into three modules:
(1) detection of microcalcification, (2) classification of microcalcification
and (3) classification of masses. The proponent used a Naive Bayes Classifier in
detecting microcalcification and Fuzzy Logic System for classification of the
severity of abnormalities. The data used were obtained from the Mammographic
Image Analysis Society (MIAS) database. |

AUTOMATIC LIP READING FOR DAILY INDONESIAN WORDS BASED ON FRAME DIFFERENCE AND
HORIZONTAL-VERTICAL IMAGE PROJECTION |
Author: |
ARIS NASUHA, FATCHUL ARIFIN |
Abstract: |
Automatic lip reading is one of research being developed lately. Automatic lip
reading has been used for various purposes, such as enhancing speech recognition
and aid to speech training for the deaf. There are two approaches in lip feature
extraction, namely appearance based and shape based. Appearance based approach
is usually better, because it provides visual features that cover not only lips
structure but also teeth and tongue visibility. However, the drawback of this
approach is producing too many features. This paper presents the new method,
integration of frame difference and horizontal-vertical image projection. This
proposed method is part of appearance approach, apart from using image
projection as dimensionality reduction. We implement the proposed method in
automatic lip reading to classify five daily words in Indonesian language. We
use 200 data which are recorded in frontal face and focused around the lip. MLP
(Multi Layer Perceptron) and SVM (Support Vector Machine) are used as
classifiers. Model of the proposed method are evaluated using 4-fold
cross-validation. Of four algorithms on the proposed method, the best result is
achieved by the combination of folded lip image and double difference. The
comparison of the proposed method and 2D-DCT (2 Dimension - Discrete Cosine
Transform) shows that the proposed method exceeds 2D-DCT in CA (Classification
Accuracy) and AUC (Area Under ROC Curve), specifically when using MLP as
classifier. The proposed method achieves 96.5% in CA and 0.9993 in AUC, whereas
2D-DCT achieves 94% in CA and 0.9978 in AUC. |

COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF ML POS ON ARABIC TWEETS |
Author: |
MUSTAFA ABDULKAREEM, SABRINA TIUN |
Abstract: |
One of the challenges of natural language processing is social media text like
tweets. Conversational text in contrast to genres that are highly edited
(standard language) which traditional NLP tools have been developed for contains
many syntactic patterns and non-standard lexical items. These are the outcomes
of dialectal variation, diversity in topic, orthography, unintended errors,
conversational errors and creative language use. The fact that twitter text is
characterized by idiosyncratic style, noise and linguistic errors makes it
difficult to part-of-speech tag. The aim of this paper is to design and
implement models of speech tagging for Arabic tweets by investigating numerous
models of machine learning like K-Nearest Neighbour, Naive Bayes and Decision
tree models. In this paper, a novel Arabic Twitter corpus is introduced while
assessing various state-of-the-art POS taggers which retrained on the given
corpus. A state-of-the-art accuracy of 87.97% is achieved when tagging twitter. |

Abstract: |
Nowadays, there have been many websites applying information services of job
vacancy. However, they still have many weaknesses and have not been able to
provide relevant information for the job seekers yet. One of the weaknesses is
that there have not been any information sharing with other job fair websites,
therefore the information of the job being offered is still very limited. The
presence of semantic web service technology makes any web services possible to
be integrated dynamically. It is now possible to do the process of discovery,
composition, invocation, and monitoring of web service automatically. This paper
is using the technology of semantic web service to integrate several services on
job fair information in the computer network. The conducted research was focused
on the service discovery to support the searching and selecting of the relevant
and reliable web service of job market. The method applied on the service
discovery is combining the algorithm of semantic matching and simple additive
weighting. The result of the testing is that the relevant and the best web
service is found out based on the calculation of the similarity of the
functional parameter and the service quality. |

SAYED CHHATTAN SHAH |
Abstract: |
In sensor cloud, multiple sensing and computing devices interconnected through
an ad hoc network are presented as one powerful unified computing resource. One
of the key issues in sensor cloud is resource scheduling which is concerned with
identification of computing resources where the application tasks will be run.
In literature, several resource scheduling schemes have been proposed but most
of them are either targeted towards pre-existing network infrastructure-based
systems or they do not consider the dynamic and distributed nature of sensor
cloud. In this paper, an energy efficient and network aware resource scheduling
scheme is proposed for scheduling of data intensive tasks on sensor cloud. The
scheme uses multi-level transmission power and network information to reduce
transmission energy consumption and data transfer time. |

Abstract: |
Customer Knowledge (CK) plays an important role in the production of high
quality and innovative software products. However, there has been little
comprehensive academic research on the enablers of customer-specific
knowledge. Therefore, study aims to analyze Customer Knowledge Management (CKM)
enablers for enterprise software development companies. Survey questionnaires
were distributed to software companies and results showed that most firms focus
their efforts more on Technological Infrastructure and less on Human and
Organizational CKM enablers. Results demonstrated low positive percent ratings
for Human Antecedents (Individual Competences & Skills) and Organizational
enablers (Customer Involvement, CKM Strategy Development and Training).
This study contributes to the CKM domain by revealing essential elements that
better enable enterprise software development firms to enhance software quality
and produce innovative products. The author recommends that software companies
place greater emphasis on Human and Organizational enablers for the
successful implementation of CKM strategies. |

Abstract: |
With the growing popularity of Web 2.0, social media is becoming the largest
source of information. Because of the huge number of unstructured reviews, it is
impossible to summarize all this information manually. Therefore, efficient
computational methods are needed for mining and summarizing the reviews to
produce a representative summarization. We presents a detailed and systematic
overview of the last update in the aspect-based opinion summarization, including
state-of-the-arts and methods that widely used in aspect-based opinion
summarization. This paper also describes a comparison of several methods in
summary generation, including text-based and visual-based opinion summarization.
Finally, this paper presents some research opportunities and challenges in
aspect-based opinion summarization. |
