Abstract |
This survey deals with the problems of job shopping
samples program (JSSP) in local search. The Ant-Miner Sample is a good approach
for mining data .It is the objective to make minimum spanning. In this paper
both deterministic and random searching is proposed. The comparison between
computational and other methods on the standards of problem instances was
presented. A probability of priority samples is also implemented for initial
distribution of ANTS. It also improves quality, effectiveness and parallel
paradigm of solutions which can run on many instances in different sizes. This
algorithm proposes different sets of jobs and machine where each machine can
handle utmost one job at a time. Every job constitutes a chain of operations and
should be processed during an un-interrupted time of a given machine .It
proposes to find a schedule that is : an allocation of operations in the form of
samples to the machines in minimum length because it is difficult to solve to
its optimality[1]. The experimental results directs that the sampling of
Ant-Miner algorithm can efficiently solve the problems of mining the data in
JSSP environment |

Abstract |
Variable structure control
(VSC) is a controlling method in which the structure of feedback is altered to
get desired output for DC motor. The position of DC motor is controlled using
VSC. However, the VSC technique has not had wide spread acceptance due to some
limitations in form of chattering which is ever-existing in any VSC system. The
chattering problem is much more serious in low moment of inertia systems because
of finite amount of discontinuous surface. The DC motors have not only low
inertia but also small time constants. The chattering is main problem for such
type motor. The concept of switching lines is used to reduce chattering. In this
paper the concept of three lines switching technique (TLST) is employed to
eliminate the chattering in VSC controlled DC motor. In this technique,
switching lines are used to delay the reversal of direction of the
representative point (RP). The biggest advantage of this technique is that it
results in invariant systems and makes the system total robust. |

Abstract |
Chemical process control
requires intelligent monitoring due to the dynamic nature of the chemical
reactions and the non-linear functional relationship between the input and
output variables involved. CSTR
is one of the major processing unit in many chemical, pharmaceutical and
petroleum industries as well as in environmental and waste management
engineering.
In spite of continuing advances in optimal solution techniques for optimization
and control problems, many of such problems remain too complex to be solved by
the known techniques. Thus, a heuristic approach is often a viable alternative.
Neural Network models offer the most unified approach to building truly
intelligent systems, which can provide good optimal solution for many
applications.
In this work we propose a hybrid (KohKal) neural network algorithm which is
being used to model and solve a continuous stirred tank mixer/reactor (CSTM/R)
problem which is non-linear and stochastic in nature. This hybrid algorithm is
robust and converges fast without been trapped into a local minimal, as is the
case with the popular back-propagation neural network. We also establish the
characteristic equations governing the dynamics of the Continuous Stirred Tank
Mixer/Reactor. A controller model was formulated and tested and found to be
consistently stable at varying conditions.
The volume of the mixture in the tank was maintained as require to give enough
hold up time to allow for adequate mixture of the contents in spite of the
variations in the inlet streams. The calculated results agreed with the output
of our neural network. |

Abstract |
Invariance is an important
aspect in image object recognition. Invariance of the output with respect to
certain transformations of the input is a typical example of a priori knowledge.
The concept of tangent vectors, which compactly represent the essence of these
transformation invariances, and two classes of algorithms “tangent distance” and
“tangent propagations”, make use of these invariances to improve performance.
Results obtained with an extended tangent distance incorporated in a kernel
density based Bayesian classifier to compensate for affine image variations are
presented in the paper. An image distortion model for local variations is
introduced and its relationship to tangent distance is considered. The
classification algorithms are evaluated on databases of different domains. An
excellent result of 2.2% error rate on the original USPS handwritten digits
recognition task is obtained. On a database of radiographs from daily routine,
best results are obtained by combining tangent distance and the distortion
model. |

Abstract |
This work presents the
design of an expert system that aims to provide the patient with background for
suitable diagnosis of some of the eye diseases. The eye has always been viewed
as a tunnel to the inner workings of the body. There are many disease states
that may produce symptoms from the eye. CLIPS language is used as a tool for
designing our expert system. An initial evaluation of the expert system was
carried out and a positive feedback was received from the users. |

Abstract |
High bandwidth environment
is useful for sending large volumes of data within short period of time. As
there is a growing demand for high bandwidth networks, data transfer must take
place without any congestion. Hence attempts have been made to find a suitable
window adjustment procedure for congestion avoidance. In TCP, since window size
is usually increased by 1 MSS/RTT and halved upon packet losses in any network,
it is not suitable for high speed network. In this paper a study is made on
window adjustment procedure for high bandwidth networks using XCP protocol. The
window adjustment procedure is based on the queue and admitted rate .This
proposed idea will be useful for high bandwidth environment for congestion
avoidance. Performance of bandwidth utilization and throughput is presented. |

Abstract |
In this paper, selection of
the state feedback gains by Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) technique is
presented contrary to the selection of the feedback gains reported in
literature. The proposed design has been applied to the inverter fed induction
motor drive system. The system performance has been simulated and compared with
some previous methods such as Variable Structure Controller (VSC) method, and
Genetic Algorithm (GA) approach. Simulation results show that the dynamic system
performance has been improved much with PSO compared to other two methods such
as VSC and GA . The results show the effectiveness of the proposed technique.

Abstract |
This paper concentrates on
the difficulty of the value of the set of revealed association rules. This
problem is important since real-life databases capitulate most of the time
several thousands of rules with high confidence and propose new algorithms based
on closed sets to reduce the mining to bases for exact and estimated rules. Once
frequent closed itemsets which constitute a generating set for both frequent
itemsets and association rules have been discovered. Proposed algorithms for
efficiently generating bases for association rules. A basis is a set of
non-redundant rules from which all association rules can be derived, thus it
captures all useful information. Moreover, its size is significantly reduced
compared with the set of all possible rules because redundant and thus useless
rules are discarded. New approach has a twofold advantage on one hand, the user
is provided with a smaller set of resulting rules, easier to handle, and
information of improved quality. On the other hand, execution times are reduced
compared with the discovering of all association rules. Chess dataset used for
experiments. |

Abstract |
Artificial neural networks
(ANNs) are a new type of information processing system based on modeling the
neural system of human brain. The potential of using neural network in
prediction of wear loss quantities of A390 aluminium alloy has been studied in
the present work. The material is subjected to dry sliding wear test using
pin-on-disc apparatus at room conditions. Effects of load, sliding speed and
time have been investigated by using artificial neural networks. The
experimental results were trained in an ANNs program and the results were
compared with experimental values. It is observed that the experimental results
coincided with ANNs results. |

Vol4. No10. -- 2008 |
Abstract |
The tremendous growth of
wireless networks demands the need to meet different multimedia (such as voice,
audio, video, data, etc) applications available over the network. This
application demand and allocation could lead to congestion if the network has to
maintain such high resources for the quality of service (QoS) requirements of
the applications. In this paper, a new admission control policy for wireless
mobile multimedia networks is being proposed based on the use of dynamic guard
channel allocation scheme. In addition, a buffer will be introduced to store
handoff calls if there are no channel available instead of dropping (rejecting)
them. The performance analysis of the new scheme will be carried out,
especially, the effect of the dynamic threshold and buffer size on call blocking
probabilities. |

Abstract |
Distributed generators are
very much beneficial in reducing the losses effectively compared to other
methods of loss reduction .In this paper optimal size of DG unit operated at
optimal power factor is dealt. DG unit placement using fuzzy logic and sizing of
DG at any power factor is calculated using analytical method . Voltage and power
loss reduction indices of distribution system nodes are modeled by fuzzy
membership functions. Fuzzy inference system containing a set of rules is used
to determine the DG unit placement. DG units are placed at buses with the
highest suitability index. Simulation results show that optimal DG unit
placement and sizing at 0.8 power factor is very efficient. Single DG unit of
optimum size operated at 0.8 power factor is sufficient in reducing losses and
improving voltage regulation effectively within the specified voltage
constraints. |

Abstract |
This paper describes the
design and development of a narrow band linear polarization microstrip antenna
array used in UHF Wind Profiling Radar. Wind profiling radars operating in
Doppler beam swinging mode needs to have large antenna array in order to have a
narrow beam for wind direction accuracy. In the present work, the antenna was
designed for an operating frequency of 1.28 GHz and was built as an array of
1X16 probe-fed microstrip square patches. The design process starts with the
theoretical design of the antenna. Finally, the results of the implementation of
the designs are presented using IE3D software. |

Abstract |
Next generation wireless
network is envisioned as a convergence of different wireless access technologies
providing the user enhanced connection any where any time to improve the systems
resource utilization. It is likely that WLAN/HIPERLAN will become an important
complementary technology to cellular networks and typically used to provide
hotspot coverage where there is a high density of users. In such converged
systems, co-existence of heterogeneous access technologies with largely
different characteristics like data rate for cellular network (2 Mbps), WLAN
802.11b (11 Mbps) and HIPERLAN (54 Mbps) results in handoff asymmetry that
differs from the traditional intra-network handoff (horizontal handoff). The
seamless and efficient handoff between different access technologies (vertical
handoff) is essential and remains a challenging problem. In this paper, it is
devised to evaluate the performance of vertical handover in terms of received
signal strength measurement with suitable propagation model in heterogeneous
network for hotspot communication and it is validated by simulations. |

Abstract |
A novel chaotic spreading
sequences for multi-carrier direct sequence code division multiple access
(MC-DS/CDMA) system is proposed. With this spreading sequence in the MC-DS/CDMA
system, the effect of multiple access interference can be mitigated by choosing
the spreading sequences with appropriate cross-correlation properties. The
performance of the system is assayed in the multiuser environment by means of
simulation. The simulation result shows that the proposed chaotic code spreading
approach achieves a significant improvement in the system utility of about nine
percent and it is useful in combating multiple access interference (MAI). The
studies reveal that the proposed system significantly outperforms the Walsh
Hadamard code spreading in MC-DS/CDMA system. |

Abstract |
In recent years,
mathematical content has started appearing on the web. As with other types of
information, search capabilities must be provided to users to retrieve their
required information. Conventional text-based search engines fall short of
providing math-aware fine grain search. Several efforts have been made in the
recent past to develop web-accessible mathematical and scientific search
systems. We identify major issues in developing math search systems and present
techniques for addressing them. The issues involved in developing such a system
include query format, representation of mathematical content, as well as their
comparison for matching purposes. The results generated by the formula search
system must strive to maximize the standard measures of precision, recall. It
should also sort the query hits according to some domain specific measure and
provide the hits to the user as a ranked list.
This paper presents our efforts in developing a mathematical search engine for
mathematical content retrieval. We present the Math GO! System to search and
present the mathematical information encoded in mathematical expressions. Our
approach uses the concept of template based math block identification, vector
representation, searching from mathematical topic based clusters and relevance
ranking. The search system interacts with the user through a simple query
mechanism and provides ranked listing of results. The system is comprised of a
modular architecture to organize, query, compare and presentation of math
results to the user. We compare our approach with existing approaches and
present the results. We have achieved encouraging results with the system.
